‘Snapshots in The Garden’

As someone with an interest in ephemera and documents of life, I’ve spent quite a bit of time collecting discarded and unwanted photographs from online auction sites, charity shops and flea markets. Here is a collection of garden snapshots posted to support my writings on garden photography. The earliest image dates to around 1920 according to annotations and inscriptions, but based on the dresses and styles, some of the photographs may be earlier. When you look at the photographs, what do you see? Why do we use the garden as a backdrop for our lives? For use and attribution, see the bottom of the page.
